<div style="font-size:20px;">Eris, the Goddess of Discord, was barred from attending Peleus and Thetis wedding. So, she threw her wedding present, a golden apple with the inscription "To the fairest of them all", outside the door. Aphrodite, Hera and Athena found the apple and fought over it, each claiming to be the fairest and thereby the rightful recipient of the apple. They asked Zeus to decide who was the rightful owner. However, he wisely chose not to intervene and instead delegated the choice to Paris, the Trojan prince. Paris, bribed by Aphrodite who promised to marry him with the most beautiful mortal woman in the world, gave the Golden Apple to her. In return, Aphrodite told him to steal beautiful Helen, the wife of Menelaus, king of Sparta. When King Menelaus discovered his queen was gone, he called upon all her former suitors to help him get her back! As a result, the lenghty and dreadful Trojan war began!

Legends are usually based on true stories about real people, locations, or historical events, which are then enriched by the retelling. The main characters are usually kings or heroes.
A myth, on the other hand, is a sort of symbolic storytelling that has never been shown to be true. Myths have attempted to explain complex subjects, such as the origin of the universe or mythical wars, like the one mentioned here (Trojan war). The main characters in myths are usually gods or supernatural heroes.</div></td></tr></table>

<table><tr><td><div style="font-size:25px;"><b>A Rhode Island Mill</b></div>
<div style="font-size:20px;">Alongside the river in Old Usquepaugh, Rhode Island is an old grist mill that was built in the 1700s. It is settled beside a misty waterfall, its wheel spinning in the water all day and night to churn out corn. Across from the mill, workers built small cottages into the sides of the hill with stones and packed the walls with horse hair for warmth. On one night in October, during the full moon, one of the workers noticed that the mill’s wheel stopped spinning, so he pulled on his coat and walked to the mill. He thought he saw a branch wedged in the top of the wheel, so climbed a ladder to the roof. As he reached to grab the branch, he lost his footing, falling into the rocky falls below. His body was never found. They say that every October, on the night of the full moon, the wheel stops turning as it did that night long ago… and coming from the mist of the falls, you can hear the sound of a man moaning.

<table><tr><td><div style="font-size:20px;">REMEMBER: A legend is made up of facts that are embellished to the point that genuine individuals or events become "bigger than life." A myth, on the other hand, is not founded on facts, but rather on symbolic narrative that was never based on truth. The story you read was a legend, because it was referring to a real place and probably the death of a real person. It had been recounted so many times and exaggerated to the point where it crossed the border of realism. </div></td></tr></table>
